Former Liverpool manager Mr BadDragon has hit the ground running in Italy. Many expressed the concerns that Pro Vercelli were a team below his level, however it is apparent that he knows how to get the best out of his charges. It appears that the club with a proud past will be on their way to greatness once again.

The good news is that the takeover saga has come to an end.
Not so good is the news that there will be no new money for players.
Serie B Match 24/42 v Teramo
Teramo Calico comes to town in a game we need to win to reverse an average run of form.
“Curlz” is back in training but short of fitness so starts on the bench. “Sadie” will miss this game through injury so “Borto” gets a start on the left.
The first real chance falls to “Roto” who thunders the ball of the post. Finally after 22 mins we break the deadlock. “Roto” is provider as he sets up “Vags” on the overlap and the youngster makes no mistake.
The lead was short lived. Once again we don’t clear a corner and give away a close range strike to make it 1-1 on 27 minutes.
We retake the lead thanks to a delightful finish from “Zo” to make the score 2-1 after 44 minutes. That takes us through to half time. “N.B” is not having a good game, so I give “Bong” a run out. I also hand the 15 year old German “Delle” his debut with 20 mins to play. In the end the half-time score remains good enough for the win.
We deserved to win this game as we dominated possession and shots.
“Vags” picked up a player of the match award as we racked up yet another narrow victory. Now things get difficult.
Serie B Match 25/42 v Salernitana
On the road at 8th placed Salernitana. This the first of a key double header for us, and a win here would strengthen my hold on 3rd place.
Two changes for this match. “Curlz” returns up front, while “Bong” gets a chance in the first team and earns his first start.
“Zo” hits the target and draws a save in the first minute however it takes us until the 18th minute to open the scoring. “Roto” it is who bags his 20th goal of the season with an unopposed tap-in.
From the kick-off we dispossess the opposition and “Curlz” bags our second goal in two minutes. The boys are on fire today!
The floodgates have been basted open. “Curlz” scores his second and that is three goals in five minutes.
We have another two clear cut chances which “Roto” fails to put away. In the end it is Salernitana’s turn to score to make it 3-1 on 35 minutes.
Defending seems to be optional as we give back another goal two minutes later. They seem to be overloading the center so I have some tactical thinking to do. We limp into the break up 3-2. The second half was a battle, and with two minutes to play “Bong” gets sent off for a crude challenge. We manage to hold on for the narrow win.
Talk about a game of two halves. The first was goals galore, the second was a dour affair that could have gone either way. In the end we came out on top.
“Bong”gets a warning for hsi red card. He is lucky that it wasn’t a fine, which it probably should have been. He gets an extra two weeks so will be out for a bit.
Serie B Match 26/42 v Catania
This is the acid test to see how our promotion credentials stack up. Last match finished 3-2 to Catania after we spotted them a three goal head start. The key is to not gift them a lead this time.
“N.B.” returns for the suspended “Bong”. Club captain “Farnia” is back on the bench following injury.
A tense start to the game is blown open by a piece of individual brilliance. Robotti ghosts through the defense before poking the ball home from a very fine angle. Not the start we wanted, however the key is not to go behind by more than one.
Of course the best option is to get a goal immediately and we do this thanks to a defensive error by Barchello. This provides “Roto” a tap in for goal number 21. That was all of the action for the half. All to play for in the second spell.
From the kick-off we get in front. The ball finds it’s way to “Zo” who fades the ball across the keeper and in at the far post. 2-1 to Pro Vercelli which is the perfect start to the half.
“Zo” bags his second with a fierce strike from close range to make it 3-1 with 18 minutes remaining.
Catania show why they are a top side with a goal through Azemi. that makes the score 3-2 to Pro Vercelli with 11 minutes to play.
“Farnia” bags number four from a corner to restore our two goal cushion and ultimately the win. We were able to shut down the match and squeaked out a close but in the end comfortable win.
We had the better of the game, not for the first time this season. We managed to convert enough chances for the win.
The double by “Zo” in the second half was key to the victory. Unlike our last meeting we stopped them extending their lead.
Serie B Match 27/42 v Cosenza
Cosenza are sitting firmly at the top of the relegation three. They are four points from safety with the third worst goal difference. This is a chance to get a rare clean sheet.
“Tito” is suspended for having picked up 4 yellow cards, and as “Bong” is still serving his three match ban, so “Borto” gets a run with “Sadie” back on the left. “Farina” comes back into his role as DLP pushing “Degi” to the bench.
“Curlz” and “Roto” combine once more with “Roto” bagging his 21st goal for the season. That is the only action of an uneventful first half.
From a 53rd minute corner, “Macho” directs a header goal-wards. It took a wicked deflection off Paradiso and is credited as an own goal.
Substiture “Vags” makes it three with a peach of a finish. “Vags” has been the unfortunate Mr Backup player, behind “Macho” and “Zo”.
As per usual we can’t keep a clean sheet. Lorenzo puts a good finish on some individual brilliance, and that is the final action of the match.
Another win but yet another blown clean sheet. We have only managed 7 clean sheets from 32 games. This level of defending may be good enough for this level but not good enough for Serie A.
“Roto” picks up his 7th PoM award for the season in yet another match which we dominated.
Four wins from four league games for the first time in the season.
We find ourselves in second place just one point behind Catania, who have lost two in a row and come back to the chasing pack.
Two tough games against Firontina and Verona loom on the horizon. The pressure will be on for us to continue the good run.
