198: Liverpool win Super Cup

23 September 2029
Liverpool, England

High-flying Liverpool Manager, Mr BadDragon, added another trophy to the Anfield Trophy Cabinet with a win in the UEFA Super Cup. The Reds overcame a spirited challenge from Europa League Champions Schalke by the odd goal in five, in what was a free flowing affair.

The Reds didn’t get things all their own way as the slumped to a disappoint 2-0 defeat at the hands of Dortmund in the opening match of the Champions League. The defending champions were played off the park and will have to improve if they wish to have any chance of defending their title.

This Super Cup victory was a good result for us however it was tempered by a decidedly poor showing in the Champions League. It was had to work out what was the cause. The whole team had a shocking game. I guess it was just one of those days.

Blow by Blow

Capital One Cup – 3rd Round Draw

We get Wigan Athletic in the third round of the Cup.

UEFA Super Cup

Schalke are our opponents in the Super Cup. We last met in Group H last season.

“Sindy” is preferred to “Ferran” at right back for this important game. “Halo” returns to partner “Tan” in midfield.

Well we didn’t play all that well. We did play well enough to win another trophy. The UEFA Super Cup is in the cabinet!

Injury Update

Slightly annoying but not a serious injury.

Premier League – Match 4/38

Sheffield United have qualified for the Champions League and deserve their place. They will provide a good challenge for us.

A few changes to the side for this match. “Stipe” is in for the injured “Flavio” while we rotate a few players. “Diogo” gets his first start of the season.

We had to work hard for the result. In the end we did well, and kept another clean sheet.

Champions League – Group B – Match 1/6

We open our Champions League campaign against Dortmund. I have yet to meet these guys in any competitions yet.

We have made a couple of changes, however we have some tired legs in the side. “Oos” and “Hero” get a chance to impress.

We were really bad tonight. “Stipe” had a shocker, however we should have scored at least five goals aside from woeful finishing. There is much work to be done.

Champions League Results

We were not the only big name to have a bad start to the campaign as Bayern suffered defeat to Heerenveen.

No real shocks in this round. Chelsea did drop points to Wolfsburg.

Premier League – Match 5/38

Watford have a habit of pinching points against us so there is no room for complacency.

Due to scheduling issues we have Wigan in two days time in the Capital One Cup. This team has been selected with a view to a full rotation for that fixture.

“Diogo” impressed in the is game, bagging a good goal and creating space. In the end we secured the win which keeps us in touching distance of Chelsea.

Results Summary

The loss to Dortmund was a shocker. Aside from that a good series of results.

League Table

We sit in second place two points behind early leaders Chelsea.

Champions League – Group B

We are in an unusual position in the Champions League group.

Next Episode

Next up are Wigan on two days rest in the Capital One Cup. We then have Lokomotiv Moskou in the Champions League, and Hull and Newcastle in the League.
