165: Liverpool advance on penalties

3 November 2027
Liverpool, England

Liverpool held their nerve as the overcame the dreaded penalty shootout to advance to the Capital One Quarter Final for the first time under Mr BadDragon. World class keeper “The Greek” saved two spot kicks and it was left to Liverpool legend “Birigui” to show composure to score the winning penalty.

The fans were appreciative as the win sends them through to the face Newcastle United at Anfield in December.

Our perfect season continues. I am very happy with the way the lads have been playing, and when the backup players are needed they step up.

Apart from the Watford match I think I have nailed most tactical decisions and am feeling confident that we will win something this year.

Blow by Blow

Premier League – Match 9/38

Following on from the PSG game, we play host to Nottingham Forest. Forest are sitting in mid table and we can not afford to take them lightly.

That being said we need to keep players fresh, so “Hero”, “Trickles”, “Flavio”, and “Lazer” all sit this game out. “Volkan” makes his first start since returning from injury.

When we went behind against the run of play after dominating the match I feared the worst. We hit back immediately when Forest were reduced to 10 men, and their tactics of playing two wide midfielders and one central midfield player against our 4-3-1-2 proved suicidal. “Stipe” should have had a hat-trick however he missed three opportunities to seal the deal.

Team News

Leading 5-2 is always a good time to bring a débutante on. “Ni Cole” did not disappoint and played well.

Not surprise that a record fell with that score.

Capital One Cup – 4th Round

We are off to Old Trafford to face high flying Manchester United in the Capital One Cup 4th Round.

I have fielded what is probably our strongest line-up, apart from those players who are absent injured.

As predicted it was a tough match. “Flavio” scored twice from off-side positions and it was left to “Goose” to shave two penalties. Veteran “Birigui” scored the winner from the spot and we are through.

Capital One Cup – Quarter Final Draw

We dodge Arsenal and instead draw Newcastle United.

Premier League – Match 10/38

Following on from a battle against bitter rivals United comes the Merseyside Derby as Everton come to Anfield.

We field an almost fully rotated side with youngsters “Stipe”, “Ni Cole” and “Sindy” getting their first starts for the club.

This was a pleasing result considering the highly rotated nature of the team. Young “Stipe” is developing very nicely and will be in the first team moving forward.

Team News

I locked “Goose” down to an improved contract which will keep him at the club for the next 5 seasons.

Champions League – Group H – Match 4/6

The return match in Paris will be a Battle Royale as the defending champions look to repair their dented pride following the loss the suffered at Anfield.

We field close to a top side once again, although I have something different planned for this match as it unfolds.

It was a a torrid match which guaranteed that we will advance to the knock-out stages once again. PSG are a very good side and will be a force going forward.
