162: Liverpool make solid start

13 September 2027
Liverpool, England

Liverpool make a solid start to this campaign recording good wins over Chelsea and Manchester City. The Reds also managed a very credible draw against Arsenal,. The only blot being a poor result against Watford when the let a 3-1 lead slip away.

Of concern is the lack of clinical finishing in front of goal, which is something that BadDragon needs to address if his side are going to be competitive this season.

Well I have to put my hand up and say that I was at fault in the draw against Watford. I failed to adapt to the danger they posessed on the counter and paid the price.

Milan really wanted this lad, however I have big hopes for him. I would have taken 40 million, however they only offered 30. No sale!

Hero has hitched his wagon to the side for the best years of his playing life, and I am happy to have him.

Premier League – Match 1/38

First up we have Arsenal away, a fixture which has been a bane for us. We lost the competition last season with a poor start so I do not want a repeat.

We come out of the blocks with our best line-up. “Birigui” makes the bench but that position will be in doubt as the season progresses.

We were second best in terms of chances created. We were the first to score but went to sleep from the restart and conceded a soft goal. Still it wasn’t a defeat so its not all that bad.

Lets see if we can’t make game 100 a win! Would be a nice way to celebrate the occasion.

Premier League – Match 2/38

It will be an interesting match, following Manchester Cities attempt to prise me away from Anfield in the summer.

I have decided to roll the dice and play a 4-4-2 formation for the first time in my career. It is something I have been developing and I think this may be the answer to getting our first win for the season.

Of course plying the 4-4-2 against the 4-3-1-2 was a mistake. A 4-3-1-2 will devour most 4-4-2’s for  nibbles. At 1-1 we switched to a 4-3-1-2 of our own and we never looked back.

Champions League Draw

We get drawn against the defending champions, PSG. No problem! I am half tempted to finish third and go after the Europa League. However I hate to lose!

Capital One Cup Draw

Premier League – Match 3/38

This could be a defining game, even this early in the season. It would be good to lay down a marker of intent for the campaign with a good victory here.

We pick our number one side for this match. “Skywalker” replaces “Sim” on the bench.

It was particularly pleasing to win away against one of the form teams in the competition. “Tan” put in a great performance today.

Players on Loan

It is important that “Skywalker” gets some first team experience so he will be out on loan for the next 3 seasons.

“Mo” is out on loan once again as he needs game time to develop.

Finally “Ingvar” is out on loan for one more season.  I have “Birigui” who will play as 4th centre back before “Ingvar” will return.

Injury Update

“Den” picks up a twisted ankle and “Volkan” not to be out done sprains his.

Premier League – Match 4/38

Next up are the boys from Watford. With Chelsea dropping another game we have a chance to go after United and really challenge this season.

I am fielding a slightly rotated side as we build towards the champions league matches. “Halo” and “Birigui” get their first starts of the season.

We threw away two points with a poor defensive display that saw us give up two late goals to draw 3-3. I think that I was guilty of underestimating the threat that Watford possessed and played too loose. Lesson learned.

Results Summary

Well what was a promising start was soured by our inability to see out the game against Watford.

League Table

We have made a better start this season, and find ourselves in third place. United have gotten off to a flyer and we will need to keep matching them to stay in the hunt.
