129: Andelecht win three in a row

18 May 2025
Anderlecht, Belgium

Anderlecht completed the formalities and won the Jupiler League at a canter. The pre-season favourites lived up to their top billing and swept all before them with an undefeated season.

Yet as good as the results have been, they will count for nothing if the Anderlecht side can not get over the final hurdle of the season.

Nothing like not living in the moment, is there? We have played well this season and even when things have been against us we have always found a way to win. Ok, so we failed in the Cofidis Cup, but we won it last year!

Blow by Blow

Jupiler Pro League – Champions Group – Match 6/10

Next up is Club Brugge. This match will be a step down in intensity although the prize on offer will keep us honest.

We are trying something slightly different formation wise with a right wing.

We got the win, however we had to work for it. “Rommel”scored at both ends before a late goal for “Vert” proved decisive and turned a draw into a win.

Jupiler Pro League – Champions Group – Match 7/10

Genk is up in what amounts to game one of a double header.

We have an almost full strength side here with a few players being rested due to having played the last game two days ago.

It took a while to come, but when “Mookee” banged in the 100th league goal that we have scored the title was ours.

Three times the charm! It is good to put this game away, as it allows us to focus on the Chelsea match.

Don’t worry boss, there is only one game I have been focussing on this season. The Champions League!

Jupiler Pro League – Champions Group – Match 8/10

Genk have a chance at instant revenge as we face them again inside a week. They only have pride to play for.

We come out all games blazing, fielding our firs choice first team.

Well that was awful. If it wasn’t for a fluke goal by “Trickles” we would have lost the game.

Poor keeping and a big bounce and we fluke a draw. If we get through the season undefeated I owe it to this goal.

Jupiler Pro League – Champions Group – Match 9/10

The second to last match of the domestic season and the last chance for the second string players to play this  season.

I have selected the alternates line up, with an eye to the first team coming together for the last two games of the campaign.

A fine double by “Xu” was sufficient to allow the backup squad to coast to victory.

One more game before the final… win that and the tally will go to fifty-five.

Young “Nemby” could be bigger than “C.K.”. I am pleased to be keeping him at the club.

Jupiler Pro League – Champions Group – Match 10/10

The final game in a long domestic season. A dress rehearsal of sorts for the match to come.

No surprises in the starting line-up, while on the bench I wrote the wrong name on the team sheet. “Nemby” was supposed to be there in place of “Marino”. Oops…

A fine Hat-trick by “Benny Jets” was the catalyst for a comprehensive  victory against Standard de Liege. A good way to finish the season.

Results Summary

A good final run of games. More than good enough to win the league.

League Table

We put together an undefeated season. Genk fought hard, but finished a distant second.
