Welcome to Stade de France where we are about to witness a titanic struggle between two clubs with a shared history. That history is Mr BadDragon who set in motion the rise of Anderlecht during his three years in charge. The connection is made stronger by the current Liverpool squad featuring no fewer than six players who have played for both clubs.
Both sides have been impressive this season, winning their respective domestic titles. Liverpool are also the defending chamipons having beaten Real Madrid in last years final.
Christian Manceau joined Anderlecht in 2025 as a replacement his opponent of today, Mr BadDragon. Since joining Anderlecht he has won a total of ten trophies which have included five consecutive league titles, three Supercup van Belgie, and two Cofodis Cups.
Before joining Anderlecht he was manager at PSG where he collected 16 titles including The Champions League in 2022, the FIFA world Club Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. He also was part of the dominant PSG tradition of winning the Ligue 1 title for the past 17 seasons.
Mr BadDragon is a relative newcomer to English football having joined Liverpool in 2025. His Liverpool team are defending Champions League holders, and have won the Premier League, the Capital One Cup, the Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA World Club Cup this season.
He is no stranger to big matches, having lifted the Champions League with Liverpool, the African Champions League with Jomo Cosmos in 2018 and the Asian Champions League with the Newcastle United Jets in 2021.
His career has been that of a perennial jet-setter having managed in no fewer than seven countries over the past sixteen seasons.

The hit the sweet spot in the middle of the first half, and seem to threaten from both flanks. They look vulnerable early so we will seek to go at them from the outset.
They line up in a 4-4-2 which we are reasonably competent at dealing with.
“Barb” is a youngster I signed during my time at Anderlecht. He has a total of 22 goals from 36 appearances this season.
The previous meetings between the two sides favour Liverpool.
Champions League Final
We have been made reasonable favourites which is fair enough due to the relative size of the two clubs. That does not mean I am taking things easy.
We have selected the same side from our last league game. Interestingly there are only two new faces in the starting XI from the final against Madrid.
We were not good enough in front of goal and butchered too many chances. Still, I rate the season as a success. If I had to lose to a side, then Anderlecht would have been my choice.

It wasn’t an ideal way to end my career at Liverpool. You can’t win them all, and the disappointment will be a motivation in my next role.
Congratulations to Anderlecht who were resolute enough to win when called upon.
