197: Liverpool retain Community Shield

30 August 2029
Liverpool, England

Liverpool got their season off to a bright start as they successfully defended their Community Shield title against a spirited Chelsea side. Mr BadDragon will be hoping that this performance is an indicator of things to come as he faces the daunting task of topping last season.

Well we have got the start we wanted. Chelsea are looking particularily solid this year and we could see a three way battle for the League title this season. I certainly do not expect to run away with the competition again.

Blow by Blow

Community Shield

A chance to set the tone for the season. Chelsea are a top side and will be up for this match.

I have three top quality strikers. “Hero” was number one before the injury and gets a chance to prove himself. “Naert” trumps “Oos” at inside forward although he is not great in that role. “Mo” gets the start as “Halo” is still injured.

Well we started well and while we didn’t set the world on fire we got ahead. At 2-0 up we were in control however they pulled a goal back only for “Tan” to seal it with a late goal.

Premier League – Match 1/38

The first league game of the season sees us host Fulham. This is a match that we should win.

Three changes to the lineup. “Oos” comes in for “Naert”, “Goose” for “Mo” and “Sindy” for “Ferran”. “Halo” has started training and is looking likly to be back for the Manchester City game.

A good performance by the lads sees us off the mark for the season. “Mookee” put in a fine performance at left attacking mid off the bench and may have found his place in the side.

Team News

A small uptick in season tickets. Not to be sneezed at.

Premier League – Match 2/38

Newly promoted Stoke City are next visitors to Anfield. We are in second behind Manchester United who bagged a 6-2 opening day win.

We have rotated heavily with a complete change at the back. “Mookee” gets his first start on the left.

We dominated the match but struggled for goals. Still a good win and a second league clean sheet.

Premier League – Match 3/38

Following our midweek game we are on the road at Manchester City. This will be our first real test of the season.

Close to a full strength side on the pitch. “Halo” isn’t back to fitness and so “Goose” partners “Tan” in midfield.

We were not great today. We had the chances to put the game to bed and didn’t. In the end a rare error by “The Greek” cost us the lead and two points.

Champions League Draw

We have a good group which should allow us to advance with relative certainty.

Results Summary

Well three wins and a draw isn’t bad. I just have a feeling that United may be a force again this season so points dropped are not good.

League Table

We sit top, however we have played one more game.

Champions League – Group B

The slate is clean – let the games commence.
