Another season over. I think this rates as one of my more successful campaigns. I added four trophies to the cabinet out of the five events we were entered in. The highlight had to be the UEFA Champions League/Premier League double, a feat that will be very hard to top.
We were unable to defend our F.A. Cup after Arsenal threw us out yet again. We did add the Community Shield and repeated as Capital One Cup champions. While that doesn’t quite carry the same status you still have to work hard to win them.
On a personal note I added another Manager of the Year award to my resume which was very pleasing.
We got out of the group stage reasonably easily. The path to the final involved beating four previous champions. Easy eh?
An opening run of sixteen wins on the bounce set up a fantastic season where we ran the title pulling away.
While the final winning margin of sixteen points was impressive, the 24 point gap between third and fourth showed the gulf in quality between the leaders (Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea) and the rest of the league.
We had top goal scorer and top assister to boot.
Knocked out by Arsenal (yet again!) in the Fifth round. The title was won by Chelsea.
Capital One Cup
We overcame a determined Arsenal to win the Cup for the second year in a row.
We overcame a strong challenge from Manchester United to win this trophy.
We have two keepers in the golden glove race, which was won by “The Greek”. “Selbs” came in third while on loan at United.
Manager of the Year
My fifth Manager of the year award and easily the most satisfying.
“Slalom” topped the list. However Paul Cook with 24 from 24 appearances did very well.
PFA Player of the year
Slalom picked up the PFA Player of the year award. He also collected the fans award for player of the year.
FWA Footballer of the Year
“Tan” gathered in the FWA Footballer of the Year award
Premier League Team of the Year
We have six players in the Premier League team of the year top 11.
Liverpool Team Of the Year
No real surprises here, although I may have rotated the midfield slightly.
Top Goalscorer was “Slalom” with 33 in all competitions. Top assists was “Tan” with 28 (plus 17 goals to boot). “Lazar” was the top defender with 17 key tackles and a 92% ratio.
