190: Liverpool retain Capital One Cup

7 March 2029
Liverpool, England

Mr BadDragon added the Capital One Cup to the Liverpool trophy cabinet for the second time in his tenure. The Merseyside outfit have impressed this season having beaten Arsenal in the final.

The early game belonged to Arsenal who looked threatening and when they scored first it looked likely that their run of good results over the Reds would continue. Fortunately for Mr BadDragon and the Liverpool fans this time it was different as the Liverpool side turned in a top drawer second half performance to run out comfortable winners.

While the Capital One Cup was a nice distraction, the big result was the comfortable defeat of Barcelona in the Champions League round of sixteen. This result sets up a very tough tie against Chelsea in the Quarter Finals.

Blow by Blow

Injury Update

Just as “Diago” gets talked about getting some game time he picks up a knock.

Premier League – Match 27/38

Nottingham Forest come to town in match 27 of the current campaign. This is a match we should win. Lets turn that into reality.

We have some tired legs and so I have opted to rotate the squad for this game. It’s a gamble, but one I have to take.

We did the job and moved one more win closer to the title. It’s not yet in the bag, but its getting close.

Injury Update

Trickles picked up a knock but might be back in time for the Cup Final.

Premier League – Match 28/38

Sheffield United have not won a game since the beginning of January. They are still sitting in 4th place and we can’t relax against them.

We go into this match with a slight rotation to rest players as the Capital One Cup final approaches.

Another good win although not as convincing as it might have been. I was perhaps guilty of changing the team with a view to resting key players ahead of the Cup Final.

Capital One Cup – Final

This is our chance to silence the demons and beat Arsenal in a Cup Competition.

We have had a torrid run against Arsenal in cup competitions and we are due a good result. Can we deliver what is needed?

“K.A.A.” makes his return from injury as we field our best defense and midfield configuration. “Mookee” replaces “Oos” on the left flank due to “Oos” having a tough time finding the net lately.

We did what we needed to do after falling behind. I was slightly concerned that we might fail to get the result however a good second half showing saw us comfortable 3-1 winners.

Capital One Cup Recap

Back to back titles is pleasing thing. Now the next focus is the Champions league.

Injury Update

“C.K.” picks up a knock that will keep him out for a few weeks.

Champions League Results

Galatasaray and Manchester United advance.

Chelsea and Juventus turn up and deliver good wins.

Champions League – 1st Knockout Round – Leg 2

We have two away goals in the bank. Now is the time to build on that initial deposit.

“Oos” earns a recall and another chance to show that he has something to offer. “Nicko” is in for the injured “C.K.”

We did what we needed to do and in the end won the match and tie quite comfortably.

Champions League Results

PSG built on their good first leg to record a fine win.

Anderlecht showed class to overturn a first leg deficit, while Real Madrid were too good for Dinamo Zagreb

Champions League Draw

Liverpool draw Chelsea in the quarter final. This is a good chance for revenge following the last meeting in the semi final last season.

Results Summary

A nice series of results including the cup final win against Arsenal

League Table

We require 19 points from the remaining ten games and the title will be ours.
