189: Liverpool out of F.A. Cup

14 February 2029
Liverpool, England

The curse of Arsenal reared its ugly head as the gunners were able to record a late winner against Mr BadDragon’s Liverpool side. The loss sees the defending Champions bundled out of the competition well short of their expected level.

In other news, Liverpool remain top of the Premier League and have secured a very good 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.

Arsenal again! This is five out of six cup meetings that they have knocked us out of the competition. No we have to battle them again in the Capital One Cup final. Can we break the curse?

Blow by Blow

F.A. Cup 5th Round Draw

Once again we are drawn against Arsenal. It seems like they are our nemesis.

New Signing

In what is a rather forced decision I have signed “Mookee” from Anderlecht. I needed a striker in a hurry and he was available. If he bags a bucket load of goals, then it will be a good move, even though he will cause me some selection headaches moving forward.

Team News

200 games in charge of any team is special, but a club of the stature of Liverpool makes it doubly so.

Premier League – Match 25/38

The pundits do not fancy our chances. I think we will be able to prove them wrong.

The key is how quickly “Mookee” can settle into the side. He is thrust into the spotlight from the start.

It is games like these that define a championship win. We did what we had to do and then successfully shut up shop and held onto the three points.

Manchester United drew so it was a gain for us.

Injury Update

Not only is he away on international duty, but “K.A.A.” picks up an injury to boot.

Champions League Results

Two tense draws in the first round, although Juventus got the vital away goal.

Arsenal and Galatasaray drew with a red card a piece, while Milan beat Manchester United comfortably.

Premier League – Match 26/38

While I agree with the sentiment that we should beat Swansea, I don’t buy into the easy part. Our team chemistry has been disrupted with injuries and it may take a while to get back into the groove.

I elect to come out with an unchanged line-up as I seek to build the cohesion of the side.

It didn’t take “Mookee” long to get on the score sheet bagging a goal in his second start for the club. We did what we needed to and were able to extend the lead to 12 points.

F.A.Cup – 5th Round

We have been made favourites for this match. It is Arsenal in a cup competition so I am not taking anything for granted.

Three changes sees “Goose”, “Nicko” and “Dari” replace “Tan”, “C.K.”, and “Ferran” due to fitness issues. “Ni-Cole” is given a start ahead of “Lazar” as part of a rotation policy due to “K.A.A.” being injured.

What is it with Arsenal and Cup matches. The game was very even, and I can’t fault the way my team played. “Goose” looked to have bagged the winner only to be ruled offside. In the end they scored the decisive goal and we are out.

Champions League – 1st Knockout Round – Leg 1

This promises to be a tight tie. Barcelona is never easy at the best of times and we will have to play well to win.

“Naert” is back from injury and while not fully fit he is the only option up front.

We played really well, and even though it took until the final third for the goals to come they eventually did. “Oos” is struggling with form and “Diogo” may be switched for him moving on.

Champions League Results

Bayern and Real Madrid both get good results.

PSG is back in winning ways as well.

Wins in the League and the Champions League are tempered by defeat

League Table

We are still sitting on top of the league and need eight wins out of twelve games to get over the finish line.
