187: Liverpool extend their lead

15 January 2029
Liverpool, England

Liverpool have extended their lead in the Premier League to ten points plus a game in hand following another two matches. The Reds are looking unstoppable, in much the same way that Manchester United did last season. There is still a lot of football to be played, however I have a feeling that we will have a new champion this year.

I feel it is a little early to be calling the race over. All I can focus on is to keep winning games and let the points table take care of itself.

Blow by Blow

Capital One Cup – Semi Final – Leg 1

The Semi Final first leg against Chelsea. It is tempting to go hard for this competition however its not to be.

It may appear that we are lying down against them. In reality we are rationalising the season. Premier League is number one goal.

We managed to get a draw in a game we were second best in. If we get through this series of matches and into the final, well… we may take it seriously.

F.A. Cup – 3rd Round

We owe Crystal Palace after the last meeting against them. I know the Premier League is my focus, but back to back F.A. Cups would look good on the resume.

We are bringing out the big guns today. No prisoners will be taken!

Well we were good and not so good. We scored five but let in three.  Still a win is a win and we are through to the next round.

Transfer Out

Bean is gone. He was not going to get much better and it’s time to move him on.

Premier League – Match 21/38

West Brom are next. The plan has not changed. Keep winning!

A slight rotation to rest some tired legs. We are fielding a fairly strong team however.

We posted a comfortable victory in a match where I never felt fully in control of.It seemed like we made the most of the chances we created and that made the difference.

Premier League – Match 22/38

On the road at Reading who are really struggling this season. Despite their low league position I will not be taking this game easy at all.

A rotated side for this match as I mix and match my best players to keep them fresh. “Dari” has been a disappointment this season and needs to buck up his ideas.

A very good win this. I think this was one of my better management games as I had to try a few things to conjure up the win.

Results Summary

Another good series of matches sees us still alive in all domestic competitions.

League Table

Ten points clear and a game in hand is a nice place to be.
