Liverpool turned on a master class as they handed Barcelona a lesson in composure in the return leg at Anfield. With the sides locked 1-1 following the match at Camp Nou, Liverpool blasted four unanswered goals past a shell-shocked Barcelona side.
Barcelona were not helped by their full-back Antonio, who was at fault for Liverpool’s first goal and whose ill discipline say him collect two yellow cards by the 41st minute. At that stage Liverpool were 2 goals up at that stage and never looked back.

Well I am satisfied with how we have progressed. While the Premier League title has slipped away we do have two semi-finals coming up. If you had offered me one cup win plus two semi’s at the start of the season I would have taken that. Ideally we want to win beat Southampton and perhaps add the F.A. Cup to our haul. Chelsea will be a real challenge, and that tie could go either way.
Blow by Blow
Only two players of note in the intake.
“Two-Son” is Northern Ireland player who looks reasonably good.
A raw Welsh striker/winger.
Sampdoria ditched their manager following the last game and offered me the job. I politely declined.
Premier League – Match 32/38
We go visit Southampton in what promises to be the easier of the matches on offer this episode. Southampton are battling relegation and sit in 19th place.
Squad picked based upon fitness, with no real surprises.
We turned in a solid performance which was soured by a late goal to end the dream of a clean sheet. Injuries to “Hero” and “Tan” are a concern.
Two injuries to key players. Luckily we have the international break for them to recover in.
“Tan” has been dynamic and will be a big miss. It looks like he will not be fit for the next three games.
“Hero” is out for a week, which is better than I feared.
Champions League – Quarter Final – Leg 1
Barcelona at Camp Nou. It doesn’t get much bigger than this, does it? We need to make sure that the game isn’t dead after the first leg.
“Goose” has taken “Tan”‘s place in the midfield, while “Dari” gets the nod over “Ferran” at right back.
We withstood their attack and managed to get ahead through a “Trickles” goal. Unfortunately we couldn’t hold on and an unfortunate own goal saw the game end 1-1.
Champions League Scores
Chelsea smashed Arsenal. This doesn’t bode well, as it looks like Arsenal may have rested players for the F.A. Cup. Juventus smashed Manchester United too.
Real Madrid smashed Bayern as well. Our game was the closest match of the Quarter Finals.
F.A. Cup – 6th Round Replay
Arsenal have lost four of their last five games. If ever there was a time to play Arsenal, this would be it.
“Halo” is in for “Trickles”, “Ferran” for “Dari”, and “Slalom” for “J-Lal”.
“Naert” bagged a great game, and we somehow managed to hang on for the win. The ghost may have been laid to rest.
This could be a problem. “Flavio” out for close to the end of the season. “Stipe” will have to put in a real shift.
F.A. Cup Semi Final Draw
Southampton is not a bad draw. The other match sees Manchester City and Manchesr United square off.
Champions League – Quarter Final – Leg 2
We bring an away goal lead back to Anfield. There are some tired legs in the squad and we just have to find a way through this match.
We line up a little defensive with a slight rotation from the last match. “Hero” is rested by “Naert”.
An unbelievable result as we score four unanswered goals to reverse the result from last season.
Champions League Results
Bayern were unable to overturn the first leg 5 goals and miss out narrowly.
Juventus manhandled Manchester United, and Chelsea thumped Arsenal.
Champions League Semi Final Draw
We draw Chelsea which means that Juventus and Real Madrid square off.
A fantastic series of results see us into a pair of semi-finals.
Nothing much has changed. United is still miles ahead. Our 72 points would have been good enough to be 3 points back last season.
Two semi-final matches coming up next episode.
