91: Still Top of the Pile

8 November 2022
Anderlecht, Belgium

Anderlecht continue to impress and find themselves solidly top of the league. The signings that Mr BadDragon has made have begun to perform really well and are delivering results.

His insistence with playing a narrow formation represents a departure from his previous tactical  focus and shows that he has versatility as a manager.

Well, we have done all we set out to do. We are still top of the League and top of Group C which is spectacular. Sit back and take a look at how we did all of this magic!

Blow by Blow

Jupiler Pro League – Match 12/30

We go to visit the bottom team in the league, and everyone expects that all we have to do is turn up. Obviously that is not the case and we will have to play well.

Probably my most rotated side of the season. I need to keep players fresh as we have a big run of games. Hoping that the players selected can deliver.

Considering the heavily rotated side I fielded this is a good outcome.  “Mookee” picked up a good goal and young centreback “Rommel” bagged his second for the season.

Team News

Only seven players in the team of the week. Not bad, eh?

Champions League Group C – Match 4/6

A win here and we look good for qualification. Even a draw will be ok.

Close to a top side. “C.K.” is back in training but not yet fit enough. “Andre” is looking tired but my midfield is a little light. “King Loius” gets a run at DLF.

At the end of the day a draw was a fair result. We got the opener with a good finish, but they came back at us. Still it was a valuable point and keeps the dream alive.

Injury Update

“C.K.” is back in training and should be fit to play some minutes against Gent

Jupiler Pro League – Match 13/30

Lommel United are another team who are struggling in the league.

With the Gent game three days later I am going to gamble and field a slightly weaker side. Most of the subs get starts today.

We choose a 50% rotated side with young “Humbug” getting his second start for the club in goal. “Rommel” has been performing well for the side and deserves his start.

“Mookee” found his shooting boots again with a fine hat-trick, taking his tally for the season into double figures.

Jupiler Pro League – Match 14/30

KAA Gent offer a sterner challenge for us. We will have to put in a good shift to keep the run going.

“C.K..” makes his long awaited return to the side, while “Mookie” is preferred to “Lembi” up top. There have been a few role changes in the tactic as well.

Close to my best XI  take the field today. Captain “C.K.” gets to start and will probably only play 70 minutes.

We put in a top draw performance with a good 4-0 win. “Benny Jets” scored a great solo effort to get us under way and that settled the team down.

Player Focus – “Benny Jets”

Benny Jets

This week we feature our number one striker, “Benny Jets”. The young South African has already played 28 games for South Africa. I hope I can keep hold of him for three years.

Injury Update

We no sooner get one midfielder back from injury only to lose two players out.

Luckily both are only minor knocks and will not impact us too much as our next game is two weeks away.

Results Summary

Three wins in a row in the league and a draw in the Champions League. This makes it a good few weeks for us.

League Table

We sit top with a game in hand. Standard Liege, Club Brugge and Genk are the chasing pack.
