Newcastle, Australia
Another pre-season has been and gone. With only two additions to the squad, it was just a case of ticking off the days on the calendar until game time rolled around once more.
I am happy that we have strengthened the squad from the team of last season. Whether we have a squad which is strong enough to get out of the Champions League Group, only time will tell.
New Signings
Li Rencai is an astounding find. That he was released by his club in the first place makes me worried about the strength of teams in China!
Neck DeVere is being touted as a future Australian star, so I was pleased to have the chance to prise him out of Melbourne and into my team.
Players Released
As discussed last episode, neither of these two fit my plans moving forward and were released.
Friendly Banter
Not much to say here… It’s only my opinion…
New Kit Sponsor
In a surprise announcements, long time Football Manager Fansite FM Whizzkids has announced today that they are the new Newcastle United Jets shirt sponsor for the next three years.
Football Manager Whizzkids principal owner James made this announcement today.
Sponsoring the Jets for the upcoming season is huge honour and a major step in getting the Whizzkids brand into the wider world. A pleasure and privilege to be able to work with the Jets which will hopefully prove to be a successful relationship between us. But remember, there is only one Newcastle United…
A wit in the gallery was heard to comment
Finally supporting a Newcastle United who knows how to win!
James declined to comment!
New Seasons Kits Revealed
Newcastle United Jets rolled out their new seasons kits today.
New Contract Signed
In light of rejecting a 1.9 million bid I had to offer a new deal to “C.K.” He has committed his future to the jets for 4 years.
New Zealand Draw
In what could only be viewed as an upset the New Zealand team drew with favourites Brazil at the Olympics.
Friendlies
A good run against some average teams. The Parma result was pleasant, and although we were dominated statistically we performed well.
Next Episode
We start our defence of the A-League title with Wanderers FC coming to visit. We are not a surprise package and everybody will be looking to knock us off our perch.
