Goyang, Korea
We did it! It took a lot of help from the teams around us, and a fantastic last surge but Goyang are the K-League Challenge Champions. It’s a wonderful feeling and well deserved, but not without some tense moments.
Results
Three wins on the bounce were enough to get us over the line. The most important result was the 4-1 win over Daejeon as that gave us the breathing space we needed to get the job done.
League Table
Just confirming the final standings. Last years 9th and 10th placed teams finish 1st and 2nd. How cool is that!
Players of the Year
These guys were the award winners but by no means were they the only stars.
Manager of the Year
Not unexpected given the performance of the team, but pleasing none the less.
What Now?
Which brings me to my next choice, what to do now? I am not sure I want to carry on in Korea. The team is not strong enough for the next level and will require some serious work to rebuild. In many ways it has over-performed. My stated objective of this series was not to build dynasties but see the world. For now I plan to bask in the glory of my victory!
